Justine will be facilitating Djembe Dance for Beginners. These classes will be highly accessible, and designed specifically for beginner dancers. Each session will involve simple body warm-up exercises, followed by an introduction to West African moves and steps, and will end with a relaxing cool-down. Justine will be accompanied by live drumming for these classes.
Running African Drumming Workshops since 1998, Justine has extensive teaching experience with groups of mixed abilities, structuring her workshops according to the needs of her students, and different types of clients and environment. Justine regularly visits West Africa to continue her ongoing study of this exciting musical form and to experience the culture from which it originates.
In 2007 she performed at the Kartong Festival in The Gambia, representing Britain with its own traditional folk music. Justine also leads The Vitae Drummers, an African drum and dance ensemble, and she is co-organiser of High Wycombe’s annual Winterdrum Festival. Based in Buckinghamshire, Justine is known for her passion and enthusiasm for African drumming, dance and songs, and for her unique and clear teaching style, giving effective and popular workshops and performances
